A Few Words About Empathy

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

Empathy:

1. The psychological identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another.

2. The imaginative ascribing to an object, as a natural object or work of art, feelings or attitudes present in oneself.

If any of you have known me for any period of time you may have heard me talk about empathy. I cannot state how important it is for us in our day-to-day lives, whether we are interacting with our loved ones, our co-workers or even people we are meeting for the first time. Empathy is also a particularly powerful tool on the mats as well. Simply stated, Empathy can help us meet the level of our partners in a training environment as well as identify our opponent’s intentions in a competitive environment. I could go about this for hours but won’t bore you. I do invite all of you to consider what this means and how you can use empathy in your daily lives and on the mats! Below I have attached a short article on Empathy and invite you all to give it a gander.

Again, thanks for your continued support! Wishing you all the best during the Holidays. Keep on Keepin' on and see ya’ll on the mats!
